Today Will Be Cloudy and Gray. Tomorrow It Will Rain.

A solitary sandpiper, nine evening grosbeaks,
two gadwalls and nineteen American coots,

twenty-six purple finches, a great cormorant,
a greater yellowlegs, forty green-winged teal,

six Northern harriers, seven kingbirds,
forty-three sharp-shinned hawks,

a pine siskin, common snipes and sora rails,
sandpipers including buff-breasted, white-rumped and stilt,

fifty Cory's shearwaters, ten lesser shearwaters,
one hundred unidentified shearwaters.

This is the orderly way we keep our boats,
a trim forest of trees.
