Process I: Preparing Plates
Karla Kelsey

We do this falling as with
a singing unto stone, exposing

the phosphorescent plate
to dust and iron sediment--
          15 to 30
seconds in summer and 40 to
70 seconds in winter--

finding a length of beach
I do not signify,

     the mellow net--

foreign nickel beetle--crude quantities--these
I can send you

decrepit flower--heresies
of transport--oil
     islands allured away

Process II: With Pitch and Wax Prepare the Seal

They come back faltered
converts in dipping light--

seventeen parts
of the sand claimed. Glass displays

this too when I look
again--not cypress boards--nor shop
to credit a name to our

new continent. He
bares his right thigh--parts
in flockinglight--expose

my yellow ember.
The lung pains when

our portion comes.
